No Increases in Tanzania National Park Fees for At Least 12 Months

Mar 20, 2025

Jully Lyimo, the Assistant Conservation Commissioner of Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), announced to a pleased audience in the UK that there would be no increase in park fees for Tanzania's national parks for at least the next 12 months.

Speaking to UK-based representatives from Tanzania’s private sector on Monday, March 17th, Ms. Lyimo explained that while rates for 2026 are still under discussion, no changes will occur until March 2026 at the earliest.

The audience was reassured that TANAPA plans to implement gradual fee increases rather than large-scale hikes, always with a minimum of 12 months' notice before any adjustments.

Ms. Lyimo emphasized, "We want to ensure all stakeholders have adequate time to prepare for any fee changes, ensuring that increases are moderate and align with market conditions."

Tim Valentine Gold, Regional Sales Manager for Nomad Tanzania, expressed his support, stating, "It's refreshing and encouraging to see TANAPA take this approach, with the 12-month notice being essential for our planning and sales activities."
